Chris Maguire and Rhys Jenkins won a 2009 International Pairs qualifier in dramatic fashion at Baxter Creek Golf Club yesterday.
Jenkin's par in a sudden death playoff defeated the Lindsay team of Tammy Peterkin and Tara Sayer.
Both teams finished with 48 stableford points and headed for the 19th hole island green to determine the winner.
The event, presented by Alliance Golf Memberships, was the sixth stop for the On the Links Tour. With the victory the duo advances to the Canadian finals to be played at Piper's Heath in Milton, Ont., on Sept. 21.
The twosome also won matching Callaway golf bags which will be customized with their names courtesy of Kevin and Garrett Fitzgerald of AGM.
If victorious in Milton, the pair will advance to Scotland for 2010 world finals.
In yesterday's playoff, after Sayer put her tee shot in the water and Maguire put his in the front trap, it came down to Jenkins versus Peterkin. Despite a solid chip, it took Peterkin three shots to get down from the left fringe while Jenkins lagged his putt up the green.
He then sunk the uphill putt for the win.
The team of Kalvin Andrews John Whiston finished just one point out of the playoff while Sue Ellis and Al Crowe were two points back.
